Volunteer Service Policy
Timing at meets is required by the Host Team of every meet.
If we have swimmers attending a meet, the Host Team will
assign lane(s) to us in which we are to provide 2 timers per
lane for the entirety of the meet. Each family, where
swimmers are registered in a USA meet, must have a parent
volunteer at that meet for timing, scribing, etc. when NEHA
has lanes assigned by the meet director. As part of our
Volunteer Service Policy we will provide a volunteer sign-up
sheet prior to and the day of the meet for parents to
sign-up for one hour blocks of time to volunteer in the
assigned lane(s) for timing. This does not mean we are
limited to timing in just our lane(s). If all blocks of time
have been filled on the sign-up sheet, you can check-in with
the coach on deck, tell him/her which lane you will be at,
and it will be noted on the sign-up sheet to ensure credit
for your service. Parent Volunteers will be responsible for
checking in with the coach prior to their shift.
There are other
opportunities to fulfill your volunteer service
requirements. We will be hosting events at KAC where we will
need parent volunteers. Events include the black and gold
meets, fundraisers, banquets, and other team socials and
events. The NEHA staff will be providing sign up sheets for
these events as well.
NEHA Volunteer Service
Requirements:
The success of our program is dependant upon the quality of
parent volunteers. We believe we can offer your child the
best experience possible, but it will require every adult to
contribute to our cause. Often, the responsibility for
providing help falls repeatedly on the same parents.
Most successful swim
clubs have instituted a parent volunteer program to
distribute the responsibilities more fairly throughout the
membership.
The NEHA service program
applies only to those swimmers registered with our LSC (Gulf
Swimming). Hours for the 2007-2008 year will be based on a
20-point requirement for Black and Gold Swimmers and a
10-point requirement for White Swimmers. One point is equal
to one hour of work. Families with swimmers in multiple
groups are only responsible for fulfilling the obligation of
the highest-ranking swimmer. Upon enrollment families are
required to declare their intention to satisfy their service
requirement. This will allow the team time to help families
choose the best method for them to satisfy their commitment.
There is a financial
option to this plan in lieu of service hours. Since we are
in need of volunteer hours, we would prefer families NOT
take this option. We value each service hour at $10.00/hour.
If your family chooses to pay the fee, the year's obligation
would be $200.00 for Black and Gold Swimmers and $100.00 for
Participating Swimmers. If this is your choice, a check for
the full amount should be received within 30 days of
enrollment in the NEHA swim program. Please remember your
swimmer(s) will not be able to participate if this bill is
not paid. |
